Basildon Women's Aid has eight life-sized Silent Witnesses, each one represents one of the eight victims - one male and seven females - that were killed in one year by domestic violence in Essex. The red Silent Witnesses carry an inscription with details of the sex, age and details of how they died. Under the inscription is the message "To love, honour and obey till death do us part. Each of the Silent Witnesses represents a real person who once lived, loved, hoped and dreamed just like you and I. Every one of the Silent Witnesses was murdered by the very person who professed to love them". |

The Silent Witnesses are available on loan free of charge, transport will need to be arranged for collection and return of the display. Any damage to the Witnesses will be charged to the person organising the display and repair work will be arranged by Basildon Women's Aid.
