Safety Plan

  • Find out useful phone numbers, i.e. local Police Station, hospital, Women's Aid etc.
  • Keep a change of clothes to hand or at a friend's or family address.
  • Have a spare key in a safe place.
  • Gather up important documents, i.e. child benefit book, passport, birth certificates and place them with a trusted person for safekeeping.
  • Keep an emergency cash fund.
  • Figure out an escape route from the house in order not to get trapped by the aggressor.
  • Have somewhere to go in an emergency.
  • Avoid confrontational situations and confined spaces.
  • Talk to your children. Make sure they do not answer the door.
  • Alert the local police station to any potential threat.
  • Have a back-up plan in case things go wrong.
  • Always be ahead of the situation; think before you go out.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help.
  • Stay away from known areas where the perpetrator may frequent.
