Safety Plan
- Find out useful phone numbers, i.e. local Police Station, hospital, Women's Aid etc.
- Keep a change of clothes to hand or at a friend's or family address.
- Have a spare key in a safe place.
- Gather up important documents, i.e. child benefit book, passport, birth certificates and place them with a trusted person for safekeeping.
- Keep an emergency cash fund.
- Figure out an escape route from the house in order not to get trapped by the aggressor.
- Have somewhere to go in an emergency.
- Avoid confrontational situations and confined spaces.
- Talk to your children. Make sure they do not answer the door.
- Alert the local police station to any potential threat.
- Have a back-up plan in case things go wrong.
- Always be ahead of the situation; think before you go out.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help.
- Stay away from known areas where the perpetrator may frequent.
